This morning I received a newsletter from ComScore, a leader in measuring the digital world (NASDAQ: SCOR), where they are revealing that American Apparel has ranked as the top online advertiser displaying ads among apparel retailers in the United States. A huge total of 483 million ads were delivered during the month of April reaching 49 million Internet users. American Apparel is beating names like: NBA, NIKE, ARMANI & LEVI STRAUSS.

Here is the ComScore list of top apparel advertisers in the U.S. Market

American Apparel takes advantage of the social media phenomenon and advertises heavily on Social Media websites.

The majority of display ads were delivered via social media networks. Almost half of its ads appeared on top social network sites: MySpace.com 24 % and Facebook.com 19 %, while AOL carried nearly 12 %.

The social Media phenomenon
Let´s remember that there is a whole world out there in MySpace, FaceBook & YouTube, millions and millions of people practically socializing (living there), the old fashion way just to check your email is gone, persons love to: chat, video chat, video call, messaging, sharing photos, sharing friends, sharing videos and sharing everything that can be shared, that’s why American Apparel delivered so many ads in those communities. There are many more social networks that capture internet users. Do you know the phrase “Are you following me?
