For every added second that takes to load a page, a web surfer spends an extra 6 seconds browsing it.

Internet speed tests in different countries. Do you know what country has the fastest internet connection? Netherlands, Israel, UK, USA, Japan, Canada, Germany, Italy, Australia, France, Spain, India, Brazil or China.

ClickTale collected and analyzed data from over 1 million visitors during the months of May and June 2008, they measured Internet speeds using the average page loading speeds from each country.

Page loading speeds vary from 1.1 to 5.5 seconds. Israel and Dutch surfers have the quickest page load, while Chinese and Brazilian surfers have the slowest page loading rating.

For almost all countries, the page loading speed vary between 1.6 and 3 seconds. The variation in Internet speed could have been caused by several of these factors:

The disparity of communication infrastructures between countries.

Broadband vs. dial-up penetrations for each country.

The speed and type of the computers used to surf the web.

The types of websites visited by the different populations. Rich media sites with photos and movies would take much longer time to load than plain text sites.

The location of websites being visited also counts. Web Sites hosted physically near the surfers may provide faster page loading speeds.

The next graphic illustrates the results more effectively.

There are additional interesting results, like this one. For every added second that takes to load a page, a web surfer spends an extra 6 seconds browsing it. You can read the entire post directly in:

Google is running a display ad test on selected pages of the YouTube mobile sites in the Unites States & Japan. Test advertisers will have an additional branding tool at their disposal and the big opportunity to reach millions of people who visit YouTube every day using their mobile devices.

YouTube mobile advertising test will be evaluated closely the next several weeks to make sure that partners and advertisers get the most valuable and effective mobile experience possible.

Google and YouTube are experimenting with new online advertising strategies, I recently saw some AdSense experiments, like a little search box instead of ads where the users had the opportunity to search for advertising, a llittle strange because I suppose that people would’t search for advertising, they would prefer to search for content. By the way, Google has also opened the doors for more countries and languages for advertising in videos with Video Units, the adsense program was available only for US, Canada & UK editors, now more people will have the opportunity to earn more money using YouTube videos.

If you want to know more about YouTube for mobile devices watch the next two YouTube videos.

Via Business Wire, Magid Associates & MetaCafe have released an interesting survey results, they show that short form videos dominate online viewing; the survey was intended to know more about consumer behavior and preferences in online video viewing. The most popular categories of videos watched online are all short-form: comedy, music videos, videos shot and uploaded by consumers.

Mike Vorhaus of Frank N. Magid Associates.
“Online video has rapidly become not only a mainstream cultural phenomena, but also a powerful marketing vehicle for all brands that want to reach consumers who no longer watch as much TV – and even fewer Television commercials”

The national study, conducted by Frank N. Magid Associates, surveyed almost 2,000 people between the ages of 12 and 64; with age, gender and ethnicity representations. The survey results show the following data.

50% of all respondents watch online video weekly.
11% of all respondents watch online video daily.
28% of those who watch online videos report watching less TV as a result.
19% of those who watch online videos report regularly sharing a link to a video with someone else.

The top five most commonly viewed types of online video content, based on respondents reporting that they watch regularly, are:

Comedy / Jokes & Bloopers, 37%
Music Videos, 36%
Video shot and uploaded by consumers, 33%
News Stories, 31%
Movie Previews, 28%

Erick Hachenburg, CEO of Metacafe.
“Online TV or traditional networks distributing their own shows on the Internet, is really just the same long form programs, and with the same audience, supported by the same advertisements, only the delivery platform is the difference. We’re excited about this new and growing opportunity short form video entertainment presents, and we are committed to growing our leadership in this sector.”

Online video has become one of the most influential internet marketing strategies, having presence in some mayor video sharing site is a must if you want to increase your online visibility. Practically all video sharing sites offer a free account, if you don’t have a camcorder, you can use even your cell phone to record a video or simply create a Power Point presentation and upload it as a video, but … if you really want a professional video presentation for your company, products or services, you will need to pay for it, but I am sure it will worth every cent that you invest on it.

If you see any search results in search engines, you will find frequently a wide variety of video results from different online video sites.

Google Olympic designs.

Google main page and search result pages are characterized for showing a clean and simple design in all the countries where Google has presence. Nevertheless, several times a year, Google changes the logo in his main page making reference to some events, anniversaries & special characters.

Here are some good examples that I have archived since Olympic 2008 opening.

But Google SERPS design have never been changed until now, in Beijing Olympic Games 2008, Google has broken his rules adding an image in SERPS, these designs are shown only in Google China, and this is the first time that I see a clear change in Google SERPS design, I don’t know why, maybe China bought the space to reinforce the Olympic image or it’s just s Google tribute to Beijing Olympic Games 2008.

The next images show you what I am talking about, Google China SERPS and image design alone. And If you didn’t know, iGoogle is the only way that you can customize your Google Image, you can change and customize many many things including image header and things you are interested in, take a look to my iGoogle in the last image.

American Apparel has ranked as the top online advertiser displaying ads among apparel retailers in the United States of America.

This morning I received a newsletter from ComScore, a leader in measuring the digital world (NASDAQ: SCOR), where they are revealing that American Apparel has ranked as the top online advertiser displaying ads among apparel retailers in the United States. A huge total of 483 million ads were delivered during the month of April reaching 49 million Internet users. American Apparel is beating names like: NBA, NIKE, ARMANI & LEVI STRAUSS.

Here is the ComScore list of top apparel advertisers in the U.S. Market

American Apparel, LLC
UnderArmour.com
SnorgTees.com
L.L. Bean, Inc.
Levi Strauss & Co.
BustedTees.com
Nike
NFLShop.com
Endless.com
Skechers.com

American Apparel takes advantage of the social media phenomenon and advertises heavily on Social Media websites.

The majority of display ads were delivered via social media networks. Almost half of its ads appeared on top social network sites: MySpace.com 24 % and Facebook.com 19 %, while AOL carried nearly 12 %.

The social Media phenomenon
Let´s remember that there is a whole world out there in MySpace, FaceBook & YouTube, millions and millions of people practically socializing (living there), the old fashion way just to check your email is gone, persons love to: chat, video chat, video call, messaging, sharing photos, sharing friends, sharing videos and sharing everything that can be shared, that’s why American Apparel delivered so many ads in those communities. There are many more social networks that capture internet users. Do you know the phrase “Are you following me?”
